Volunteering Volunteering opportunities Apply to volunteer with us It's great to know that you now want to volunteer with us, so here is how our application process works: Complete our online form and send it to us fully completed with all of your details and the names of two independent referees who have known you for at least two years. Once we have received this, we will contact you and arrange for an informal discussion, to talk about the roles that you are interested in, and the roles that we have available. It's important we both end up doing what we want and need. Our Administration Officer will now take up your references and contact you to arrange for a check to be made with the UK Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). This is online but we will need to meet with you to check some ID documents. Once we have your references and DBS check complete, we will arrange for you to attend an induction session, and a "taster" session in the activity area where you will be volunteering. Once this is complete, off you go. But you won't be alone. Our volunteers supporting front-line activities always work in groups of two or more and have access to a 24 hour Duty Manager if they need any additional support. Within your first three months of voluntary service we expect you to complete two additional training sessions called Disability Awareness (co-presented by people with disabilities to share real life experiences), and Safeguarding - Protecting Ourselves and Others (helping you understand how to identify and report concerns about possible abuse, and also how to protect yourself from malicious allegations). Both these sessions are free to attend. Don't forget that you are entitled to claim any authorised out of pocket expenses to cover travel, entrance fees and activity costs when supporting a BUILD Charity event or activity. Details will be shared as part of your induction and this is the form to complete Volunteer's Expense Claim Form 2022-23 So don't delay, complete this form Volunteer Registration Form and return to us.
