Joining In

We offer around 300 different community based social, leisure and learning opportunities each year.

We welcome anyone, with any disability, who is over 16 years of age in Norfolk.

Here is how you can join in.

Here are a few things you need to know before registering:

  • We do not provide any form of personal care, such as helping going to the toilet, washing, dressing or feeding.
  • We do not provide any form of medication
  • We do not require a formal referral from a Social Worker or other care related professional.

If you need any of this type of support, you are welcome to bring that with you when you join in our opportunities programme, just tick that box on the Registration Form so we know to add an extra space when booking you in.

  • We provide you with a new opportunities programme every three months, sent to your home address, with booking forms, so that you can check out all the information you need to make an informed choice about what to get involved in, when and how much it will cost.
  • We provide a minimum of 2 staff, or volunteers, on every programme opportunity offered to help everyone taking part to feel safe, help with reading menus, instructions, crossing roads etc
  • We ask you to tell us if there are any specific issues you want us to know about, and share with our support teams, to make sure we can give you the appropriate level of support. This might include issues with mobility, seizures or visual impairments.
  • We will share your contact details, and that of someone you would want us to contact if you were unwell on a programme opportunity, only with those supporting the activity.

If you are happy with all of that, please complete and return the  BUILD Registration Form (2020-21) to us.

Our Programmes

  • We normally publish a programme in advance covering a period of three months at a time. You can join in as few, or as many, activities as you like (subject to availability). The programme tells you what is happening, where, when, how much it will cost and when the closing date for bookings is.
  • The cost of joining in our programme will depend on whether you are part of our Regular User Membership Scheme details of which can be found in our Member section.
  • Our programmes are currently very different as a result of the restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 global pandemic so here is an example of our pre-covid-19 programmes to show you what we would normally be doing.
  • Jan-Mar 2020 Programme
  • You can download a copy of our most up to date programme
  • BUILD Activity Programme (Feb and March 2021)
  • BUILD Activity Programme (Apr-June 2021)

All activity bookings must be made using the appropriate booking form

These can be picked up at the Wednesday Club and BUILD Offices, or requested by email from [email protected] or downloaded below

  • March 2021 - Booking Form
  • April 2021 - Booking Form
  • May 2021 - Booking Form
  • June 2021 - Booking Form

All bookings must have payment with the booking form

  • Completed booking forms should be returned to the BUILD Charity Office, with any fees to pay, including an Administration Fee (£5 per activity) unless you subscribe to our Regular User Membership Scheme. (£20 per month by Standing Order)
  • Payment can be made by cash or cheque (payable to BUILD Charity) sent to the BUILD Offices in Norwich or handed in at the  Wednesday Club Reception, or via on-line banking by direct credit transfer to the BUILD Charity Bank Account. (If you have a credit note, you can send that as part of your payment).
  • Bookings will be processed in the order that they are received but only when all fees due, have been paid.
  • NO BOOKINGS will be processed at all until payment has been confirmed.
  • Bookings will only be taken where any outstanding fees from previous programmes have been paid up to date.
  • Once the booking has been processed we will confirm the activities where a place has been allocated and those, where fully booked, a reserve place is offered.
  • Where we cannot offer you a place on an activity that you have sent us money for, (e.g. where you are a reserve) we will refund fees paid over £20 direct to your bank account, or issue a credit note for anything under £20.
  • Credit notes must be redeemed within 12 month of issue.
  • Around a week before the opportunity is due to take place we will send you an Activity Information sheet (AIS) with your final joining instructions.

Cancellations

  • If you cancel your booked place more than 48 hours before the activity start time, you will get a refund of your Administration Fee (if paid) in the form of a credit note. If you cancel less than 48 hours before the activity start time, your Administration Fee will not be refunded. Credit notes must be redeemed within 12 months of issue.
  • If you do not turn up, or cancel less than 48 hours before the activity start time you will be charged an additional £5 Cancellation Fee.
  • Where you have paid in advance for a ticket, or transport, and cancel at any time after we have purchased your ticket you will be responsible for the full cost unless we are able to sell your place to someone else. Where that ticket can be sold on, you will receive a full refund.
