  1. Our Activities and how to join in

Community Opportunities Programme

Our Community Opportunities Programme (COP) provides people with disabilities with a wide variety of community based social and leisure opportunities, with a level of appropriate support to help them maximise their social life.

The programme is based on a regular series of opportunities where people can choose to engage or not, and details are published in a three monthly programme booklet and online.

Each opportunity is supported by a minimum of two vetted and trained volunteers, and the support team is increased where appropriate.

Here is an example of the opportunities offered:

  • Sunday Lunch Club - normally once a month at a pre-planned pub, restaurant or cafe for a small group of people to meet and munch!
  • Ten Pin Tuesdays - normally on the first, third and last Tuesdays of the month in Norwich and Dereham (last) where people have the opportunity to meet for food first and then join others for bowling
  • Fitness for Fun - twice a month sessions at the Norwich Fitness Academy Gym (a form of circuit training tailored to individual needs)
  • Grow and Go - our monthly session at our allotment growing fruit and vegetables to share and cook with
  • Weekend Walkabout - our monthly walk on a Sunday afternoon in the city, coast or countryside, often finishing in a pub or cafe
  • Supper Club - a monthly Thursday evening meal at a restaurant for some tasty food and good company
  • Sunday Cinema - a monthly visit to the Vue Cinema in Norwich, or Orion in Dereham, to see a film on current release
  • Fuse parties - at The Waterfront in Norwich (normally the last Thursday of the month) or Dr Thirsty's in Kings Lynn. These are club style parties in nightclub venues with DJ sound and light shows, fully licensed bar facilities and door staff. These events are hosted by the BUILD Charity and only open to people with disabilities and their guests.

To book a place on any of our community opportunities, click HERE or call the BUILD Charity Office on 01603 618029 for assistance.
