  1. Our Activities and how to join in

GetAways and the BUILD Travel Service

Our GetAways programme hosts a number of days out, short breaks and holidays often using commercial travel providers, but sometimes hosted entirely by ourselves.

Activities included in our programmes this year include:

  • Bure Valley Steam Railway
  • Norfolk Broads River trip
  • Horseracing and Country Music at Newmarket Racecourse
  • Camping in North Norfolk
  • Canoeing and sailing on the Norfolk Broads
  • Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach
  • Cromer Pier Christmas Show

All have limited places and will be subject to availability of appropriate supporting staff or volunteers.

Past trips have included:

  • Hill-walking and caving in the Peak District
  • Visiting the World of Harry Potter
  • Visiting the National Space Centre
  • Visiting London's Winter Wonderland
  • Daytrip to Cambridge
  • Ice skating in Peterborough
  • Go-Karting in Norfolk
  • Visiting Madam Tussauds in London
  • Day trip to Woburn Safari Park
  • Camping in North Norfolk
  • Sailing and canoeing on the Norfolk Broads
  • Day trip to the set of Emmerdale
  • Visiting Cadbury World
  • Christmas Carols in the Caverns of the Peak District
  • Visiting Buckingham Palace
  • Visiting Air Shows at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford
  • Visiting the Tower of London
  • Visiting the set of Coronation Street

Generally these trips involve small groups of people with disabilities and are supported by staff and/or volunteers.

The BUILD Travel Service provides one to one support for individuals who want to make their own arrangements for a day out, or holiday. Here we support them to make informed choices about what they want to do, where they want to go and help them with research, budgeting and booking to act on those choices. In these cases we do not attend their activity.
