The BUILD Charity is both a Registered Charity and a Company Limited by guarantee meaning that its Board is made up of people who are both Trustees and Directors. There is no remuneration for this role, but travel expenses are available.

Following some recent restructuring the Board is looking to recruit some additional members at an exciting time when we are about to launch an ambitious new three year strategy and are re-building after managing the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, during which we continued to deliver a range of social, leisure and learning opportunities for people with disabilities throughout the various lockdowns and restrictions.

We are particularly looking for people with some experience in finance or accountancy, marketing, or charity law, but even if you don't have those skills we still want to hear from you.

A "must have" is the ability to share our vision for adults with disabilities in Norfolk to have the same opportunity to access social, leisure and learning activities that anyone else has, and the ability to look beyond the day to day operation of a small charity at the bigger picture making sure that it runs within its charitable objectives.

The Board currently formally meets 4 times a year (weekday evenings at present) with occasional informal meetings as required, and Board members are expected to attend major events, especially those with potential funders.

What we can offer you is the chance to play a role in the leadership team of a well established, reputable and award winning charity (Queen's Award for Voluntary Service - equivalent to an MBE) and make a huge difference to the lives of people with disabilities in Norfolk.
